What is Indian Head Massage?

Indian Head Massage has been used for thousands of years as part of Ayurvedic medicine where the belief is that prevention is better than cure. A note from the therapist
Some people find it very hard to relax during a body massage no matter how much they try. This can be due to personality type (finding it hard to switch off) or because of prolonged stress making you irritable or ‘wired’. If this is you I strongly recommend you try this treatment. New and Nervous?

Most people feel a little nervous becasue they do not know what to expect, for others it is because they have had a few dissapointing treatments that did not deliever what they wanted.

In both cases, the pressure of this massage is the key. Too deep for one is perfect for the other. During your consultation this will be established. If you are not sure, I will check the pressure is right for you by asking you near the beginning of your treatment. Feel free for ask for more or less pressure depending on your preference.

What should I wear?

Wear something comfortable as you will be laying down for 30 or 45 minutes. You will remove your top and lay under a towel, on a heated blanket.

Do I need to do anything before my appointment?

Avoid a heavy meal or too much caffeine as this can interfere with your relaxation. It is best to come with brushed, unstyled hair that is free from too much product.

Is there any reason why I can't have an Indian Head Massage?

This unintrusive treatment is suitable for almost everybody. The exceptions are women in the first trimester of pregnancy or those who have been advised against massage by your doctor.

Is there any aftercare advice to follow?

Drink water, avoid caffiene and alcohol. Try not to have too much arranged afterwoods as you may want to enjoy your relaxed state after the treatment.
